Self-Esteem™ game wins Seal of Approval from
The National Parenting Center
Beloit, Wis. -- Patch Products, Inc. is proud to announce that its new Self-Esteem board game has won The National Parenting Center's 2004 Seal of Approval.
"Uplifting and designed to encourage positive self-realization, Self-Esteem is all that and more," says The National Parenting Center's review. "Players must often stand up and loudly state that they are proud of themselves and then tell the other players why. By acknowledging and publicly stating their individual strengths to others, players really felt empowered."
The National Parenting Center's Seal of Approval program identifies the finest products and services being marketed to the parent. Staffed by volunteers, The National Parenting Center testing facilities give parents, children, educators and staff the opportunity to examine and explore a wide variety of products and services. Testers are encouraged to examine, play with, build, read about, and judge by the reactions of their children, the worthiness of each submission.
The object of the Self-Esteem game is to be the first player to go all the way from Mopesville to Self-Esteem City. Everybody starts their journey under a cloud in Mopesville and makes their way toward feeling good about themselves. Players, ages 8 and up, receive positive affirmations and learn to cope with problems along the way.
Dr. Michael R. Sheehan, clinical psychologist and inventor of the Self-Esteem game, was pleased with the award. Dr. Sheehan first began developing the Self-Esteem game in 1975 when he established his practice as a child psychologist. For several years Dr. Sheehan cataloged the most important and common self-esteem issues for children in order to develop the content of the game. Dr. Sheehan says, "This award validates the need for not only teachers and counselors but also parents to encourage healthy self-esteem with children on a daily basis."
