Patch’s Buzzword game recommended for all generations


BELOIT, Wis. – A brochure that outlines the value of children and older adults playing together features Buzzword®, an award-winning game from Patch Products, as a recommended word play game.

Generations United produced the brochure, “Play Is Forever: Benefits of Intergenerational Play,” in cooperation with the Toy Industry Association. Generations United is a group that helps plan activities that bring children and older adults together at schools and community sites throughout the United States. An independent panel selected the recommended toys and games.

In Buzzword, a team has 45 seconds to solve 10 clues, and all the answers contain the Buzzword. Let’s say the Buzzword is ball, and the clues are: They plump when you cook them (Ball Park Franks); Prisoner’s ankle garb (Ball and chain); Soccer in Europe (Football). The game is recommended for ages 10 to adult.

“Team members bring their unique knowledge to the game to solve a set of 10 clues where all answers contain the buzzword,” the brochure says about Buzzword. “The game encourages discussion and team work.”

Research shows that children who play with adults demonstrate greater creativity and higher levels of language and problem-solving skills than when playing solely with other children. To download a copy of the brochure, click here.

Buzzword also has received awards from The National Parenting Center, Games Magazine, Parents’ Choice, Dr. Toy, the National Association for Gifted Children and the Family Review Center.

This summer, Patch Products will introduce Buzzword Junior, which is designed with younger players in mind. The Junior version of the game will allow children as young as 7 to enjoy the benefits of playing with older adults.
