Million Minute Family Challenge™ Again Exceeds Game-Playing Goal
BELOIT, Wis. – People who love to play games while connecting with family
and friends have made the 2007 Million Minute Family Challenge™ a success, recording a total of 1,084,766 game-playing
minutes from September through December.
Patch Products, a leading manufacturer of board and card games, organizes the Million Minute Family Challenge every year to
encourage interaction and communication among family and friends by setting a national goal of playing games for 1 million
minutes during the four months.
A total of 312 groups, clubs, classrooms and families logged game-playing minutes during the challenge. The groups logging
the most minutes are:
1. Columbus Area Boardgaming Society, Circleville, Ohio, 100,000 minutes.
2. Northeast Branch, Kansas City Public Library, Kansas City, Mo., 90,015 minutes.
3. Bluford Library Gamers, Kansas City, Mo., 78,274 minutes.
4. Wurtz (Extended) Family, Muncie, Ind., 71,423 minutes.
5. St. Wenceslaus, Omaha, Neb., 50,191 minutes.
The Crazy People of Mohave Valley, Ariz., recorded the most minutes for a single family, tallying 26,800.
Missouri was the highest scoring state with 241,773 minutes, thanks in large part to a competition between three library
branches in the Kansas City, Mo., Public Library System. The three library groups—Northeast Branch, Bluford Library Gamers
and Plaza Library Kid Corner—recorded a total of 189,200 minutes. Libraries are a great place to try new games, and we
appreciate their participation.
In addition to Patch, sponsors of the 2007 Million Minute Family Challenge included KOA, Great Wolf Lodge, Blue Harbor
Resort and MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers).

2007 challenge has ended, the web site is still a good source for games to play and educational information including the
benefits of family time, the history of games and how to use games in the classroom.
