Sourcing Agent
Sourcing Agent is responsible for the development and implementation of company strategic sourcing plan, researching and
negotiating with vendors for the purchase of all materials, supplies, equipment, services, and processes. The job functions
listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Develop and implement company strategic sourcing plan which meets International Council Toy Industry (ICTI)
certifications with vendor
Research, identify and procure quality overseas vendors capable of manufacturing consumer products that exceed
requirements of safety parameters set by American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) toy industry, F963-08
Write product and quality specifications for all new and existing purchased products – import and domestic
Communicate, negotiate and resolve rejections, returns, deviations and adjustments of goods and services in a timely
manner with suppliers, internal departments and management and determine corrective action
Travel to China, Taiwan and other destinations 20 – 25% of time to source new and existing vendor opportunities,
oversee initial run of new products to ensure products meet company specifications
Develop cost controls to monitor all import sourcing invoices
Determine most economical method of moving goods from ex-factory to Beloit, monitoring product to assure adequate
delivery
Monitor shipments to ensure that goods come in on time, and in the event of problems trace shipments and follow up
undelivered goods
Identify and resolve supply chain issues with suppliers, transportation modes and others in timely fashion
Provide continuity of supply for high quality finished goods and maximize the funds invested in inventory
Develop strategic sourcing of all finished goods with concern to quality, quantity, low cost and delivery to meet
operational shipping schedules
Recommend alternative suppliers, goods, or processes for approval to the benefit of the company
Meet objectives for sourcing new products and finished goods as set forth by executive management
Work closely with purchasing and operations departments relative to reviewing specifications, fulfilling purchasing and
production plans against sales forecasts, resolving invoice / purchase order discrepancies, assuring consolidated shipments
of all import freight with CBM utilization
Research and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, reliability,
production and distribution capabilities, and the supplier's reputation and history.
Analyze price proposals, financial reports, and other data and information to determine reasonable prices
Monitor and follow applicable laws and regulations
Evaluate and monitor contract performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and to determine need for
changes
Maintain and review computerized or manual records of items purchased, costs, delivery, product performance, and inventories
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Interacts with other departments on regular basis
Safety Committee member
Performs other duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors degree (technical degree preferred)
2 - 4 years relevant experience or equivalent
Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) and American Product Inventory Control Society (APICS) preferred
SKILLS:
Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the
effective manufacture and distribution of goods related to Toy-Game-Book Industry
Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership
technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources
Excellent negotiation and supplier management skills
Ability to manage/prioritize multiple deadlines/issues at same time
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
Excellent analytical and mechanical aptitude skills and confidence in decision making
